get in my volcano

this weekend i went to lake coatepeque, which is a volcanic crater full of water.

we went swimming at sunset. the water was pleasantly cold. it gets much colder after the shallow water drops off into the actual caldera. it is very clear water.

as the stars were coming out, we ate a hot everything-toppinged pizza on the dock. then there were an insane amount of stars, because there was no moon and we were inside a volcanic crater. i saw the best shooting star i have ever seen, it was like a firework. slam dunk meteor.

when i woke up in the morning my stomach felt uneasy. 3x diarrhea. 2x extended projectile vomiting. perhaps it was because i ate the ice in the cuba libre that the hostel owner had given us in the evening. i didn't even drink the cuba libre i just ate the ice. punished.

so i followed my usual afternoon prescription for having spent the morning ejecting the contents of my stomach:

1. down a gatorade
1.b nibble at a cookie
2. drink all of the coconut milk out of a coconut
3. spend 3 hours on a series of public buses on winding mountain roads, preferably with drivers who show equal zeal for the brake and the accelerator, even more preferably while inhaling greasy odors

and bam i'm all better. just kidding i'm making porridge right now.

when i got home one of my bunnies was dead. both of its hind legs were mysteriously broken. we buried it under the avocado tree. if i had named the bunnies beyonce, shakira, and christina aguilera, i would say that the one that died was christina aguilera. i was sad. but i had already braced myself for this possibility. it's just us now, beyonce and shakira.
